We announced the Harsch Charitable Gifting Program recipients of our 2010 campaign today and checks are being mailed to all recipients. The Harsch Associates Berkshire Real Estate Agency has chosen to donate 1% of net commissions for each buy/sell transaction to local nonprofits beginning Jan 2010 and continuing again in 2011.
Fourteen area non-profits will receive checks from the Harsch Charitable Gifting Program. These agencies include Ecu-Healthcare, First Congregational Church of Williamstown, Hoorwa, The Humane Society, MassMoCA, and Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, Northern Berkshire United Way, Williamstown Village Ambulance, Williamstown Community Chest, Williamstown Elementary School, Williamstown Youth Center Capital Campaign, Mount Greylock School, Hancock Volunteer Fire Department and Quest for College.
Paul Harsch, company founder and President states, "Our agency's goal in establishing the Harsch Charitable Gifting Program is to give monetary support to nonprofits in Williamstown and the surrounding communities we serve. Funds are allocated to local non-profit organizations by vote of our buyer/seller clients." Each buyer/seller client has the opportunity to cast one vote for the charity of their choice when their home is sold or they purchase a property through a Harsch agent. The only firm requirement is that the nonprofit is local and will serve local community members.
